“But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself”

(Dan. 1:8a.) Alone in a strange land, Daniel and his three friends

most likely witnessed their parents slaughtered before their eyes. The

other Hebrew boys had succumbed to compromise, but these young

men remained steadfast in their faith in God. Character is one’s

actions when alone, and true faith in Christ results in true character.

Determine to know nothing but Christ and Him Crucified
